We can probably expect even more how-to books on small businesses than usual with the establishment of an eager new administration in Washington. New entries in the field will have to compete with such standards as Joseph Mancuso’s How To Get a Business Loan (Prentice-Hall, 1990) and Rick Stephan Hayes’s Business Loans (Bob Adams, 1989). The first title in this new “Small Business Sourcebooks” series doesn’t quite comply. Much of the standard information is here , but “Bank Notes,” which are designed to “crystallize major ideas,” are sprinkled distractingly throughout. Of greater concern is the inaccuracy of the list of eligibility requirements for a Small Business Administration loan, confirmed by a call to the SBA. Your small business patrons deserve better than this. Not recommended.
